Each year, one of Cape Town’s popular pizzerias, Col’ Cacchio’s run their much-anticipated Celebrity Chef Series. The aims in which are to raise as much money as possible to aid charities in need. 2015 saw the pairing of three top South African sports stars with three up-and-coming-chefs.
Each duo were assigned the task of creating their own signature creations which were sampled by the general public. The series ran from September until the end of November and managed to raise a ground-breaking R260 000 for the Children’s Hospital Trust.
Last year’s line-up saw the matching up of Butch James with Kamini Panther, JP Duminy with Wynand van Rooyen and finally, Jabu Mahlangu with Ivor Jones.
Jabu and Ivor’s ‘The Aegean Pizza’ was a firm favourite for Col’ Cacchio patrons, which left many pizza lovers marvelling at this innovative masterpiece.
All funds made from last year’s Celebrity Chef Series’ went to upgrading and expanding the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.
Says Louise Drive, CEO of the Children’s Hospital Trust, “We are delighted that Col’ Cacchio’s once again selected the Children’s Hospital Trust as the beneficiary of this worthy campaign… this donation [will be] going to building a much bigger and better ICU.”
