Building on the success of the 2013 Constantia Craft Beer Project Festival, it’s back again with a bang this year, ready to spread the craft love and embrace artisanal beer, food and wine. Once again, all things craft will be on show and ready to be tasted at the False Bay Rugby Club, a sports club in the heart of Constantia. It’s a safe, convenient venue with a pretty mountain backdrop, making it the ideal spot to host some of South Africa’s most delicious craft beers.
The festival gives beer adventurers (and the more timid of beer drinkers) the chance to sample and learn about beers from a wide range of local, countrywide and international breweries. These aren’t just any breweries though. These are micro-breweries where a lot of thought and a lot of heart are poured into each batch of beer. Perhaps the best part about the festival is the opportunity to chat to the brewers themselves about their products, and of course to mingle with other beer lovers.
Russ Meyer co-owner of The Craft Beer Project on what to expect at the festival,”Beer and wine drinking is a favourite South African past time and we always appreciate a lifestyle festival that is accessible and fun. Festival enthusiasts can look forward to a range of brews from local, national and international micro brewers.”
A selection of quality foods provided by Cape Town Food Trucks, all specifically paired with various brews will also be on offer. The Grubbery, Meisies Kitchen Food Truck and Limoncello Food Truck are three of the custom-designed trucks that will be at the festival offering everything from Gourmet Southern Italian food to local fare such as chicken curry and home-made milk tartlets. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available encouraging families and just about everyone to come along and celebrate!
A new spin on this year’s Constantia Craft Beer Project line-up is the addition of the SA Hot-rods who will be showcasing some of their classic cars & bikes. The entertainment line-up features some of Cape Town’s popular bands such as The Rivertones (a chilled and ever popular reggae band) along with a headline act, the live electronic duo, The Kiffness with Matthew Gold on vocals. Tickets are R90 online from quicket and R120 at the door. Ticket prices include a beer glass.
The event takes place on the 1st March from 10am -10pm and 2nd March from 10am to 5pm at the False Bay Rugby Club.
