Pinotage party season kicks off on Saturday 1 September with the first of three installations of Pinotage on Tap: a free-flowing celebration of the latest vintage release of the original coffee-chocolate wine from Wellington’s Diemersfontein.
Kwa-Zulu Natal retains its position as first host for the event, this year at the Litchi Orchard in Salt Rock, north coast Durban. Next up is the Gauteng event on Saturday 15 September, at the Forest Camp at the Cradle of Humankind Restaurant in Lanseria.
The road show will wrap with the Cape Town event at Diemersfontein in Wellington, home of the Original Coffee Chocolate Pinotage, on Saturday 13 October.
In addition to unlimited pourings from barrels of Pinotage, white wine and artisanal beer will be available for enjoyment with a generous selection of tasty, filling foods. Bands this year will include the likes of Goodluck in the Cape and Albert Frost in Lanseria, while popular local performers in Durbs will add to the market-style atmosphere and warm, relaxed vibe for which the events are famed.
A surprise is planned for event-goers in the Cape, whose ticket price will include a R5 contribution to conservation organization Birdlife South Africa. Tickets for this and the Gauteng event are priced at R320, this to include food, the bands, and of course a ‘bottomless’ glass of Pinotage. Tickets for the Durban event are priced at R250.
Ticket sales open on Monday 2 July on computicket.co.za and early bookings are advised. Accommodation packages and other special offers will be advertised on the Pinotage on Tap page on the Diemersfontein website.
