Ndaba Dube Crowned Cape Town’s Most Up and Coming Wine Steward

The Square RestaurantIf you had any doubts about the Square Restaurant at the Vineyard Hotel, now’s the time to erase them. Ndaba Dube, the restaurant’s resident wine steward has come up tops as Cape Town’s most up and coming wine steward for 2013.

Dube won this title after demonstrating his skills, along with other selected trainee chefs and sommeliers, at the inaugural Inter Hotel Challenge, hosted by Showcook.com. The new competition brings together Cape Town’s top 10 premier luxury hotels, whose respective representative chefs and stewards are pushed to their limits with challenges that test their practical skills, food and wine knowledge as well as their natural aptitudes and talents. The winners were announced at a fitting black-tie event held at the Vineyard Hotel.

Ndaba Dube, who has worked with the hotel for four years, made the Vineyard Hotel, and the Square Restaurant very proud by taking home the top honours. On receiving the award he remarked, “The Inter Hotel Challenge has been a fascinating and wonderful experience and it was a privilege to be part of it all. Top wine like top service, go hand in hand and this award means a great deal to me – thank you!”
