Benguela on Main will be hosting a Winemakers Dinner on 1 June 2017 with award winning winemaker, Johann Fourie, from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, along with executive chef Jean Delport who will be creating an exquisite meal.
Johann Fourie is Benguela on Mains’ head winemaker and is one of the foremost experts on winemaking and viticulture in South Africa. He was also named as the 2015 Diner’s Club Winemaker of the Year, a clear testament to his expertise and passion for winemaking. His vast international experience includes time spent in all the French and other European wine regions, as well as in the United States, Canada and Australia. He has studied oenology and cellar technology with an agricultural degree, and enrolled for Wine Business Management at UCT’s Graduate School of Business.
Jean Delport is the executive Chef at Benguela on Main and has had training in classical French and English cooking, which has contributed to his successes and innovation in the kitchen. Jean trained at Zevenwacht Chef School, where he was awarded both the Patissier Award in 2007 and Best Overall Student Award in his second year in 2008. He has immense experience in his field and has worked at top South African eateries, namely, Rust en Vrede, Terroir, Cassia, Equus Dine at Cavalli, and Killeen House Hotel in Ireland. So be prepared for some culinary excellence!
These two, experts of their respective fields, will take you on a culinary adventure, sharing wine tips and amazing food with you.
