Good news for Capetonian wine lovers! In the winter months, the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands will be hosting free wine tasting sessions each Monday from 18:00-19:00. The tastings will be held in the Vineyard’s Garden Lounge, a peaceful, elegant venue and the perfect place to wind down from a cold and stressful Monday. Each week will be hosted by a different wine estate from the Cape Winelands.
The schedule is as follows:
June
Monday 3 June: The boutique winery Dornier Wines will be showcasing some of their finest labels.
Monday 10 June: Leader in wine tourism, Zewenwacht Wine Estate will present some of their award-winning wines.
Monday 17 June: Franschhoek winery Leopard’s Leap will provide the wines.
Monday 24 June: Rust en Vrede Estate will join forces with Guardian Peak, an outdoor lifestyle brand to bring you this Mondays’ tasting.
July
Monday 1 July: Try the Cedarberg Wines.
Monday 8 july: Haute Cabriere from the Franschoek Valley will be hosting the wine tasting.
Monday 15 July: Sample some of the winners from Ernie Els Wines.
Monday 22 July: Taste wines from the Paul Cluver stable.
Monday 29 July: De Grendel will take you through some of their wines.
At each tasting a representative of the winery will act as sommelier and guide you through the various wines on offer.
For those of you unacquainted, The Vineyard Hotel has a lovely garden setting as well as two great restaurants, the Square Restaurant and Myoga. Given the cold and rainy weather in June, a free wine tasting followed by a cosy dinner may be just what you need to cheer you up on a dreary winter’s Monday.
