Gabriëlskloof is one of the gorgeous wine cellars on the outskirts of Bot River in the up-and-coming Overberg wine region. Its picturesque location makes it the perfect place for a relaxed, family-friendly market, which is exactly what their annual Favourite Things Market is.
This year the 4th annual market will take place on the 13 and 14 December 2013, adding charm, colour and creativity to the mix and providing harangued visitors the chance to get a relaxing break away from the crowds and stuffy air of the local shopping mall and general festive season bustle.
Ranging from prized Kokkedoor koeksisters and homemade pestos to fresh oysters and bubbly, this authentic and trendy market showcases more than 30 passionate producers who will make, bake, curate, craft, sew and share their seasonal delights for you to stock up on in style.
Furthermore, the beautifully decorated stalls will beckon you with their arrays of artisanal beers, cured meats, handmade butter and local cheeses. Combined with the bespoke décor offerings, exquisite crafts, vintage vinyl decals, clothing, flowers and ceramics, you will find the Favourite Things Market will provide the perfect opportunity for stocking up on gifts.
“Our favourite things include beautifully crafted artisanal products, fresh local produce, passionate foodies and creative geniuses, all coming together in a friendly, happy, special atmosphere. This year’s Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market promises a sensory overload like never before, with an impressive variety of tastes, textures and treats to perk up jaded palates and moods. It truly is a beautiful celebration of all our favourite things, shared with like-minded enthusiasts,” explains Nicolene Finlayson, the creative whiz behind this annual highlight.
With the soulful sounds of the French accordion and jazzy tunes of Tim Burnz wafting through the air, guests can browse the enticing stalls and shop to their heart’s content. Or simply relax on the lawn after a game of pétanque whilst the young ones enjoy the jumping castle and other fun activities in the estate’s chapel.
