The Harfield Village Carnival

The popular annual Harfield Village Carnival returns this Saturday, 28th March 2015. Second Avenue in Claremont is closed off for the day to make way for over 200 stalls, live music, a kiddies play area and lots of grub, with pubs and restaurants open all day.

The Carnival is most known for being a foodie heaven, with a huge amount of traders and restaurants taking part. This year, you can enjoy stall treats such as La Petite Moo brownies, Montagu Cheese, fresh bakery goods, craft beers, chilli sauces and organic juices.

Restaurants joining in the day’s festivities include Brad’s Grill, Banana Jam CafeSakuraZapataDa Vinci’s, Home Bar and Restaurant and The Avenue Restaurant and Grill.

The highlight of the day is, as always, the marching band procession through Second Avenue which will be kicking off at 11:15am. The procession is led by the Young Guiding Stars Sacred String Band, but also features brass and reed instruments as well as the odd old-school banjo and piano accordion.

In addition to the procession and delectable eats and drinks,  you can enjoy shopping at the various stalls on hand, selling everything from art, books and home furnishings to jewellery, locally made clothing and toys.

There will also be live music performed throughout the day, including Tuxedo, Alpha set, and DJs Roy Hendrikse and Gavyn Werth.

Kiddies are well catered for with face painting, magic shows, jumping castle and loads of carnival games.

The carnival starts at 9am and runs till late. Don’t miss out on this fun family day!
