Family Friendly Restaurant Options for Easter

family friendly restaurants, Dining-OUTFor many South Africans, April is a joyous month thanks to all the public holidays, which result in short weeks and long weekends. Obviously for families, the last dash of sunshine in April is the ideal time to enjoy quality time together, and the long weekends provide the perfect opportunity to do just that. Admittedly having little people in the family has the potential to complicate things slightly, which is why we have compiled a short list of restaurants which not only welcome small children and families, but cater specifically to their needs.

Silver Birch Restaurant – Randpark Ridge

Silver Birch has a warm, welcoming ambience with a country feel. There is a special child’s menu as well as an impressive supervised play area complete with swings and tube-slide.

Manuka @ Southeys – Somerset West

Manuka is on the Main Road and boasts an impressive wine-list for parents and a wide lawn for children to play on. The menu has a range of interesting tastes and more conservative dishes so that even fussy children will find something they like.

Irene Farm – Irene

Irene Farm is a working dairy farm, which is immediately inrtiguing to many children. It is home to 2 restaurants, The Barn and The Deck. The Barn in particular has a lovely outdoor area with plenty of space.

Siggi’s German Restaurant & Pub – Salt Rock

Siggi’s is as laid back as they come, with an open deck which somehow evokes the holiday spirit no matter what day of the week it is. There is a decidedly German slant to the menu items, but there is also a kiddies menu so little people will be satisfied too.

Moyo Kirstenbosch – Newlands

Moyo Kirstenbosch, Dining-OUT
Moyo is a successful chain of African-inspired restaurants, and apart from the novel food presentation, the location at Kirstenbosch is perfect as children can explore the garden right in front of the restaurant. And while grown ups are enjoying more sophisticated dishes, kids can enjoy simple items off the designated kids’ menu.

Tres Jolie Restaurant & Function Venue – Ruimsig

Tres Jolie restaurant, Dining-OUT
Tres Jolie is an ideal family setting – especially if you have small children en-tow. There is a lovely country setting which adults will find very relaxing, while kids will be content with the pony rides and feeding the various farm animals. The food is pretty good too.

The Galley Beach Bar & Grill – Ballito

Galley Beach Bar & Grill, Dining-OUT
The Galley Beach Bar has a great deck with marvellous sea views, and a very agreeable menu with a range of seafood, burgers, pizza and more to choose from. Of course, as with any good family restaurant there is a children’s menu too.

So with that, may you all have a fabulous April, filled with stress-free family time and excellent food!

P.S. If you know of a great family friendly restaurant not mentioned here (there are many!), feel free to make suggestions in the comments.
