Winter may not be everyone’s favourite time of year but there are a couple of things that make it bearable. For one thing, the popular Franschhoek Bastille Festival comes round again and asks you to dust off your berets and dress up in your finest red, white and blue.
The annual Bastille Festival is a highlight in the Franschhoek social calendar and attracts visitors from all over the Western Cape – and beyond! This year it is taking place from 11 – 12 July 2015 at the historic Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek.
Visitors will once again be able to sip, sample and savour Franschhoek’s best wines, eat the tastiest foods from some of Franschhoek’s famed restaurants and enjoy the most gorgeous mountain views.
As usual, the hub of the weekend’s food and wine activities will take place at the central Food and Wine Marquee.
Other activities over the weekend include the popular Franschhoek Boules Tournament, the Delta Valley Entertainers as well as the Porcupine Ridge Barrel Rolling Competition. Other not to be missed attractions are the Farmers Markets in the Town Hall and the Church grounds, with musicians and carnival performers adding to the festival experience.
Entrance costs R200 per person and includes a complimentary tasting glass, a booklet of tasting coupons and a R20 wine voucher.
Don’t miss out on the festival that has everyone saying ‘mangez bien’!
