Col’Cacchio Pizzerias has invited SA’s top culinary talent to take part in the Celebrity Chef Series 2014. The campaign kicked off in 2009 and has raised over R1 million for charity. This year, three top local star chefs Mike Basset, Jodi-Ann Pearton and Rudi Liebenberg are back to reinvent their interpretation of gourmet pizza for a good cause.Their challenge is to communicate their stories of a life and career in food by creating their own signature pizza with unqiue flavours and combinations that reflect their personal #FoodWithaStory.
The September ‘super’ chef is Mike Basset, award-winning chef and owner of Myoga at The Vineyard Hotel and Spa in Newlands, Cape Town. Basset has created ‘The Redneck pizza’, which was inspired by his worldwide travels, in particular the deep south of America and South America. The pizza consists of a tomato and cream cheese base, southern fried chicken, homemade sweet chilli sauce, coriander, chimichurri and ruby slaw.
The Celebrity Chef Series 2014 will be running from September to November at all Col’Cacchio pizzerias countrywide. For each of these pizzas sold, R5 is donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust to benefit St Josephs for Chronically Ill Children. The money raised will be used to fund an inpatient paediatric rehabilitation service to which many patients are referred to from the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
The 2014 Celebrity Chef Series is proudly sponsored by Rialto Foods, Parmalat, The Food Store, Coca Cola, Place in the Sun Wines, Bos Ice Tea and Appletiser.
