Taste, the internationally celebrated culinary festival, are launching their first Port Elizabeth based event. Taste of PE takes place at the Boardwalk Entertainment Complex from the 6 – 8 November 2015.
With the inaugural Taste Festival launched in London over 10 years ago, the event now occurs in major cities across the globe, stretching from Sydney through to Mumbai. The event is recognised as one-of-its-kind, and sees the host cities most acclaimed restaurants and chefs collaborate to present signature dishes for discerning foodies. Each festival has a unique flair, subject to the city in which it is held. To date, there are now 25 Taste Festivals worldwide, with three having been launched in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
Taste of PE will see five top restaurants and a selection of hand-picked gourmet food producers preparing signature dishes for local foodies. Signature dishes range from coastal cuisine to rustic dishes from inland towns. Visitors can also expect a wide spectrum of exhibitors, craft beers, premium drinks brands and award-winning wineries offering some of the country’s finest food and wine. Peruse through a range of craft stores, and sample quality produce at the boutique food market.
The festivals currency of choice is ‘crowns’, and are equivalent to R5. The cost of each dish is between 4 to 8 crowns. They can be purchased at the Taste Bank, or from the ‘Crown’ Sellers who’ll be milling through the crowds, hard to be missed as they’ll be wearing pink.
Tickets to Taste of PE are available from www.itickets.com. The festival doors will be opened to the public from 6 pm – 10 pm on Friday 6 November; 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm and again at 6pm – 10pm on Saturday 7 November; and 12 pm – 5 pm on Sunday 8 November.
