On the 30th July, Den Anker, Ultra Liquors and Luke Krone Events come together for the ultimate battle of the sexes at this years’ Ultra Mussels Wine Tournament. Guests can join in the fun from 12pm until 4pm at Belgian inspired Den Anker Restaurant, in the popular V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.
General Manager of the Ultra Liquors Wine Region and noted wine expert, Mark Norrish, has personally selected participants from the Stellenbosch wine region for this years’ battle. This is the first time in the history of the competition that only one wine region will be featured.
This unique battle will see the guys and girls in wine compete against each other. The girls in wine will be representing Blaauwklippen, De Morgenzon, Fleur du Cap, Haskell Vineyards, House of J.C. Le Roux, Simonsig Wine Estate, Uitkyk Wine Estate and Warwick Wine Estate whilst the guys will be representing Beyerskloof Wines, Delaire Graff Estate, Ernie Els Wines, Glenelly, Kanonkop Wine Estate, Kleine Zalze and Rust en Vrede.
Says Mark: “Ultra Liquors is constantly re-inventing the wine business in South Africa, and we really enjoy the everyday challenges that test our current way of thinking. This Challenge is a particularly interesting one, as Stellenbosch is a wonderfully famous region, producing many world class wines made by guys and girls alike. What better way to enjoy some superb fruit of the vine and voting for your relevant choice. It is novel, entertaining and unique – the very same qualities that embody the Ultra wine division.”
Doekle and Rejeanne Vlietman are well-known for their spectacular Belgian cuisine and will be cooking up a storm in the form of 1kg of mussels for each of the 200 guests. A range of wines and bubblys have been specially selected for patrons to enjoy with the mussels.
Tickets for the Ultra Mussels Wine Celebration cost R230 per person and are available through Webtickets. A ticket includes 1kg of fresh mussels, a souvenir wine glass, wine tastings and live entertainment. Only 200 tickets are available and booking is essential. No under 18’s allowed.
