Capetonians are notorious for shying away from bad weather. The moment the skies turn cloudy and a spattering of rain descends, we abstain from any outdoor activities, including walking to and from our parked cars. As you may imagine, this provides some challenges for the Cape Town business owner come winter. How to get a Capetonian out of his house and spending his money when the weather sucks?

The V&A Waterfront team in conjunction with resident restaurants has come up with a very enticing idea. Every week, for 10 weeks they are giving diners the opportunity to win V&A vouchers worth R5000. They are also offering amazing winter restaurant specials so you get a value-for-money outing as well as the chance to win.

The campaign is called Discover Delicious and encourages you to do just that at the V&A. All that’s required of you is that you eat, share and shoot – eat at a restaurant in the V&A Waterfront, snap a picture of your dish (be it part of a special or off the usual menu), register on discoverdelicious.co.za and upload your food shot to one or more of your social networks using the hashtags #discoverdelicious and #restaurantname (eg #balduccis).

The competition runs until the 31 August, and as long as your food shots are from different restaurants, you can enter as many times as you like.

Oyo Restaurant and Cocktail Bar – various winter warmer dishes for just R100

Den Anker –Try the Belgian beer and food pairing with 5 beers served with 3 dishes

Ferryman’s Tavern – Various steaks and other meaty, warming dishes served with an Amstel draught or glass of wine for under R100

Karibu – Try their 3 course set menu with a scrumptious starter, belly-warming main course and decadent dessert.
