V is for Valentine’s Week at Nederburg

The Read Table restaurant @ NederburgThis year, in honour of that most romantic of days, Valentine’s Day, Nederburg’s Red Table restaurant will be serving a special love-themed menu, which will not only make your mouth water, but your heart swell too – in a good way!
 
From the 11th to the 16th of February 2014 (Tuesday to Sunday), you and your one true love can pick up delightful picnic baskets full of super-tasty goodies for you to nibble, and share in style in the shade under the trees. The al fresco feast includes a selection of savoury and sweet treats, mineral water as well as a bottle of Nederburg’s Première Cuvée Brut, the sparkling wine in the range.
 
Picnic baskets are a steal at R250 per person, and will need to be pre-ordered and paid for 24 hours in advance.

On Friday February 14, The Red Table will be open for dinner from 18:00. In addition to its à la carte menu, the bistro-style restaurant will offer a Valentine’s Day deluxe five-course menu for R280 person. This includes light musical entertainment, adding a touch of class and a pinch of spice to the meal. Pre-booking is advised.
 
Also for the romantic occasion, there is a special sweet pairing at the visitors’ centre of Rose’s Nougat with Nederburg Foundation Rosé 2013, and Rose’s Turkish Delight with The Beautiful Lady 2012, also from Nederburg. If you choose to try one of these pairings, you stand a chance to win three bottles of each of the wines being tasted.

The Red Table, created in collaboration with well-known Cape Town foodie Andrea Foulkes, offers locally-sourced fresh, light food in a comfortable, relaxed and gesellige atmosphere. This novel restaurant in Nederburg’s iconic manor house, a national monument, looks out on to generous gardens against the backdrop of vineyards and the towering Drakenstein Mountains.
